April is the fullest month. So in case you're wondering what we'll be up the next thirty days, here’s some of our schedule, week by week:
Starting today, our spring catalog is up for preorder — or, if you like, just admire with us Sevy Perez’s On Hours design and the return of Benjamin Mackey, whose artwork graces Toughlahoma’s cover.
This week, we’ll be at Iowa City’s Mission Creek. On Friday (April 3rd) 5 PM, we’ll be cohosting a reading at RSVP with MAKE Magazine as part of the annual Lit Crawl — we’ve got Marc Rahe, Anthony Madrid, Nick Twemlow, Lisa Wells, Lakiesha Carr, & Anca Roncea on deck. Then, come visit us along with our friends CSU Press, Canarium, Forklift, Ohio, The Iowa Review, and more at Saturday’s all-day Indie Presses Book Fair.
We’ll be caravanning up to Minneapolis for AWP — catch us and some book deals at Booth 442. On Friday night (April 10th), we’ll be hosting a joint release reading with Cleveland State University Poetry Center at Instinct Art Gallery. Come for wine; come for visual & sculptural arts, come for Bridgette Bates, Lauren Haldeman, Siwar Masannat, Blueberry Morningsnow, Marc Rahe, Broc Rossell, Andy Stallings, Christian TeBordo, and Lee Upton — they’ll read real nice to you.
Back in Iowa City, Rescue Press is excited to present a reading to mark the release of Marc Rahe's stunning second collection, On Hours. The reading will take place on April 21st at Prairie Lights, 7pm. Marc will read with our Managing Editor, Daniel Khalastchi, whose book Tradition is forthcoming from McSweeney's Poetry Series in May.
The last week of April ends with the first day of May, and the launch of Marc Rahe’s second poetry collection, On Hours, and Christian TeBordo’s Toughlahoma, the second selection in our Open Prose series.
In your off hours, check the first review of Marc Rahe’s On Hours, up at The Blood-Jet.
